About the Shoreline Chorus

Shoreline Chorus is celebrating its 24th season.

Shoreline is a 50-member Owen Sound based community choir under the direction of Ann-Marie MacDairmid.

Choir members live throughout Grey County including Thornbury, Meaford, Eugenia, Walter’s Falls, Durham, Williamsford, Chatsworth, Hanover and Owen Sound.

Shoreline has presented fall, Christmas, spring and summer programs.  Fall programs have included a range of Broadway, movie, Brit pop, jazz, motown, doo-wop and dance music.  Spring programs have featured African, gospel, spiritual, folk and Canadian music.  Summer choir programs are more ‘classical’ in style – music of a certain theme from composers over the centuries.

Christmas programs include both sacred and secular music.  Shoreline presents its Christmas program at churches in several local communities during the Christmas season.

Shoreline has also offered choristers opportunity to travel and perform abroad.  In April 2012, Shoreline (and friends) went to Havana, Cuba; in April 2014, Friesland and Amsterdam, the Netherlands; in April 2016, Dublin and Belfast, Ireland and in April 2018, Prague, Czech Republic; Leipzig and Berlin, Germany.  The next tour is to Spain in April 2024.

The chorus is available for special events.  Shoreline has sung the American and Canadian national anthems at Owen Sound Attack hockey games.  They provided music at the opening of the new schoolhouse at Grey Roots Museum.  Shoreline often performs at fundraisers, most often for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
