Noon Hour Concert: Daniella Kistemaker - harp

  • St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Kitchener 54 Queen Street North Kitchener, ON, N2H 2H2 Canada (map)

Our Noon Hour Concerts are back for another incredible season of music and community building under the artistic direction of our Music Director Ann-Marie MacDairmid. After a long hiatus, we are excited to welcome guests back into our sanctuary to enjoy these concerts in person and we will continue to stream live to our YouTube channel.

Admission to the building is free, and a sandwich lunch is available for purchase prior to each recital between 11:30am - 12:15pm with the concert beginning at 12:15pm.

We look forward to welcoming the musical community back to our sanctuary this fall.

About Daniella Kistemaker

Daniella Kistemaker is a classical and contemporary harpist based in Guelph who regularly performs across Ontario. She started the harp in 2007, initially studying under the tutelage of Marie Lorcini. During much of this time, she was also involved in the K-W Youth Orchestra Program, making her way to the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Orchestra, where she won the concerto competition and then performed Handel’s Concerto in B Flat, 1st movement, with them as a soloist in 2016. She currently holds an ARCT in harp performance from RCM, which she achieved in 2017. She also won the ORMTA provincial competitions in 2014 and 2016, for Grade 10 and diploma harp respectively.

Most recently, she won the 2022 Ken Murray Concerto Competition, and will be performing the Concertino for Harp and Orchestra, movement 1, by Tailleferre, with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony in April 2023, right when she will be finishing her Bachelor’s in Music at Wilfrid Laurier University, specializing in harp performance, which she is currently studying with Lori Gemmell. In addition to solo performance, she also performs in chamber ensembles, such as with her violinist sister under the moniker The Kistemakers, and orchestras, such as the Laurier Symphony Orchestra and the Laurier Wind Orchestra, and in the opening concert of the 2022-23 season for the Guelph Symphony Orchestra, as well as with choirs and other musical groupings such as opera.
