As I am writing these musings, the church is abuzz. There are about 5 people chatting in the office in the background, we have already received the shipment of the roll away acoustical carpet for Iona Hall, a crew from Nexus church is here assembling the storage racks for the carpet, the doorbell keeps ringing and the phone is busy. It is September 😊

The sounds, although hectic, are wonderful. They are a preamble to a busy and exciting fall season for the church – one where we explore a variety of new and different relationships to help us extend our ministry of hospitality and care into the downtown core. On Sunday, Nexus begins worship in Iona Hall. St Peter’s will be in the covenant chapel as usual and we will be in the sanctuary. The church will be filled with sounds and sights and enthusiasm and excitement – that’s what we can feel already. In the middle of the smiles and gestures of care there is a genuine experience that betrays we will be doing great things this fall – all in the service of the one we follow, even Jesus the Christ.

I invite you to participate in this excitement – even now as you read this article. Pray for the churches meeting here. Pray for the groups beginning to gather here including Elmira Community Services and Marillac Place. Pray that we will all work together for the good of the community and the glory of God. And then come as you are able on Sunday to join in the celebration.

Take good care all of you. It is a good time to be part of this church.
