The Art of Lied - Community Winterreise Concert

  • St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Kitchener 54 Queen Street North Kitchener, ON, N2H 2H2 Canada (map)

Interested in hearing some of the most beautiful music for voice and piano ever written? Want to experience and learn more about Early-Romantic German art song? You’re invited to the Community Winterreise concert of the first annual Art of Lied music festival!

This year, the festival centers around the masterwork Winterreise, a song cycle composed by Franz Schubert in 1827. The student participants of the festival mastercourse will study the cycle over the course of the week under the guidance of the festival faculty members — Bass-Baritone and Professor Emeritus of Voice, Daniel Lichti, and Pianist and Professor of Accompaniment, Laetitia Bougnol.

On Friday, July 26, at 7 p.m. in the St. Andrew’s sanctuary, the students will share what they have accomplished over the course of the festival, offering a joint, community performance of the cycle.

Admission to the concert is completely free with donations going toward the Doug Haas Music Ministry Enhancement Fund. To learn more about the festival, visit theartoflied.com.
