Interested in hearing some of the most beautiful music for voice and piano ever written? Want to experience and learn more about Early-Romantic German art song? You’re invited to the opening concert of the first annual Art of Lied music festival!
This year, the festival centers around the masterwork Winterreise, a song cycle composed by Franz Schubert in 1827. The student participants of the festival mastercourse will study the cycle over the course of the week under the guidance of the festival faculty members — Bass-Baritone and Professor Emeritus of Voice, Daniel Lichti, and Pianist and Professor of Accompaniment, Laetitia Bougnol. To open the festival, Lichti and Bougnol will offer a performance of the cycle, preluded by a mini-lecture on the work by Professor Emeritus of Piano, Leslie De'Ath.
Admission to the concert is completely free with donations going toward the Doug Haas Music Ministry Enhancement Fund. To learn more about the festival, visit theartoflied.com.
