It has been a wonderful day so far today …
This morning I had coffee with the Wednesday morning men’s coffee group that meet a couple times a month at the Tim Horton’s on Frederick Street – it was a wonderful time to connect with people and we had a great conversation. At the end someone said, we need more conversations like this at the church – and I agree – a wide variety of conversations and some time just to listen to each other.
At lunch Barb joined me and together we had a delicious lunch prepared by the WA and listened to a great program of music by Darielle Chomyn Davison and Keiko LaRocque accompanied by Ann-Marie MacDairmid. It was contemporary music – and it was a lot of fun. The singing was fantastic and the response by the audience was wonderful. Slowly a few more people are coming to the concerts and that is great. Following the concert I had just beautiful conversations with Darielle and Keiko and then also with Dave Mitchell.
Then came a meeting with Carol Alguire, Larry Rechsteiner and Henry Reinders on an event planned for Saturday November 19 at 2pm here at St. Andrew’s. It will be an educational event about Canadian Food Grains Bank with Andy Harrington, Executive Director speaking. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the essential work of feeding hungry people in the world, helping families rebuild their livelihoods, offering training on conservation agriculture and improving nutrition for families. St. Andrew’s has had a long partnership with Canadian Food Grains Bank and food insecurity we know is a rising issue both in Europe due to the war in Ukraine and in Africa due to both drought and conflict. Please mark your date for this important event. It was great to talk about possibilities and see people’s excitement build on what we might be able to do.
Days like today are days to treasure and to give thanks – great conversations, great people, great opportunities. Days like today are when it is so easy to say, God is good – all the time. All the time God is good.
I hope you had that kind of day today too.
Take good care
Marty
P.S. just a reminder – October 17 bike ride ‘Journey for Hope’ to support PWS+D’s efforts at food security as well. We will meet at Knox Presbyterian Church in Waterloo because they are right on the bike path. We will ride up to Laurel creek conservation area and back. You can opt to get a ride back if you want. A great cause with some more great people.
